Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai is an upcoming Bollywood comedy film directed by Ravi Chopra, starring Salman Khan, Govinda, Tabu, Lara Dutta and Boman Irani. The film is scheduled to release on June 2, 2012.

The director was served with a legal notice in 2009 by 20th Century Fox, which charged that the movie blatantly plagiarized the 1992 comedy My Cousin Vinny. Chopra and the production company, Mumbai-based BR Films, denied the charges in court in May 2009; the movie's release was to be delayed until June 2009 by order of the Bombay High Court. Fox sought damages of $1.4 million; this was the first time a Bollywood filmmaker was taken to court by a Hollywood company over the remaking of a film. Fox had given Chopra permission "to make a film loosely based on the Oscar winning movie" but concluded the final product was a "substantial reproduction" of the original.

When BR Films’ Ravi Chopra began filming his Govinda-Lara Dutta comedy Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai, he was clear that he’d completely overhauled and re-written an Indianised version of My Cousin Vinny. Apparently, when he began the film, Ravi had sought the remaking rights but was assured that since he was taking only an idea and he’d written a totally fresh screenplay, there was no need to buy the rights. He said that he’d even got written permission from the makers of My Cousin Vinny to go ahead with his Hindi film. But between the starting of the film and its completion, the market changed colours. BR Films and BIG, the Reliance wing that had the distribution rights, soon locked horns over the price — the latter wanted BR to re-negotiate terms but the former felt it was now being offered peanuts. With the film ready to hit the theaters but BIG in no mood to do the needful at an unaffordable price, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai languished in the cans until the Chopras decided to simply end the deal and release it themselves. With perfect timing, a lawsuit was slapped on BR Films by Twentieth Century Fox for flicking their film without buying the rights!

B R Films, which was accused of plagiarism by Hollywood studio 20th Century Fox, had settled the case out-of-court for an undisclosed amount.

The Kolkata Telegraph, listing a number of other Bollywood movies "inspired" by Hollywood blockbusters, noted that the case would "decide whether Indian filmmakers can continue to get their 'inspiration' with impunity, or buy rights the legal way."

Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

After the two cult classics DEV D and UDAAN, UTV Spotboy and Anurag Kashyap come together again! And this time they dish out a wholesome masala family entertainer - LUV SHUV TEY CHICKEN KHURANA. The film, that started shooting in Punjab last week, celebrates the lovable quirks of a Punjabi joint family with its inherent humour, drama, confusion, emotion, and the secret recipe for a famous chicken curry 'Chicken Khurana', which forms the crux of the plot.

Amit Trivedi, the most talented young talent in the music industry today, and composer of past UTV and Kashyap hits like Aamir, DEV D and UDAAN, will compose the music and background score for the film. The film marks the directorial debut of Sameer Sharma, with Anurag Kashyap as creative producer and Jar Entertainment as line producer. Kunal Kapoor (from RANG DE BASANTI) and Huma Qureshi (from the upcoming GANGS OF WASSEYPUR) are in the lead roles, along with a carefully selected ensemble cast. LSTCK will be extensively shot in Punjab and is slated for release mid 2012.

Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures says, "Anurag shared this script with us and we instantly fell in love with the characters and the world that the writer Sumit Batheja has created. Very few stories can make you laugh out loud one moment and bring a lump in your throat the next, and Luv Shuv maintains that delicate balance of humour and emotion throughout. We're happy to be collaborating with Anurag after two huge successes together in DEV D and UDAAN, and here's to a hat trick!"

Anurag adds, "Together we (UTV, Anurag and Amit) have done some really good stuff starting with Aamir and then DEV D and UDAAN. And we hope to repeat the same with LUV SHUV TEY CHICKEN KHURANA. It's everything that the title says. And the Shuv between the Luv and the chicken is what is more fun. Sameer has been a very good writer and collaborator and what he and Sumit Batheja (writer) have come up with and add the garnish of Amit Trivedi, this might turn out to be the dish of 2012."

Mr.Bhatti on Chutti

Mr.Bhatti on Chutti is a story based in 2005-06, the times of military aggression and war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Set in this time is our central character of Mr Bhatti (Anupam Kher) a bank clerk, a lovable yet lonely nerd. Mr Bhatti dares to do what we prefer to discuss with our morning cuppa and forget soon after. He has the passion to implement his peace plan aimed at 'Saving the World'. And he will not stop at anything until he achieves it...

Suddenly, Mr Bhatti realizes that he has actually won a FREE trip to Europe, though he has entered no contest. Who has sent him the ticket and the hotel package free of cost? How can Mr. Bhatti go on this trip without telling his favorite star, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan about it? Never mind, if he has only met him in his dreams, thus far... In reality, all Mr Bhatti can manage is to stand outside Mr. Bachchan's bungalow with a crowd, awaiting a glimpse of his hero. A plot within a plot. And all hell breaks loose. And Bhatti gets one shock after another.

Bhatti finds himself face to face with death, and utilizes his last wish to call up Mr Bachchan. Bhatti tells Bachchan, 'marwa diya aapne'... But can one keep Bachchan down? Mr. Bachchan once again, inspires Bhatti so much that his fan can defy death and fight to save humanity.

Its action stations after this. And Bhatti whom we all thought was an idiot, a buffoon, now turns the tables and to what effect!!!. We realize that to be single-minded about world peace, even at the cost of one's life, can turn an ordinary man in to a hero.

Now it is to be seen if Bhatti's desire to meet Bush and more importantly Mr.Bachchan is fulfilled or not... Mr Bhatti on Chutti is, on the face of it, a comedy. But there is much more to it in the larger sense, Mr Bhatti on Chutti talks about the common man Mr Bhatti's dream of a workable peace plan in a world ravaged by war and hunger. The film is also a celebration of Mr Amitabh Bachchan's stardom. He plays Mr Bhatti's conscience and also his inspiration as he is in real life to millions of us.

Department

Releasing Date: 18 May 2012

Department is an upcoming Hindi action film directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The film stars Amitabh BacchanSanjay Dutt and Rana Daggubati in lead roles. The film was shot using several Canon EOS 5D cameras.

Contrary to buzz in the air, Ram Gopal Varma's cop drama DEPARTMENT isn't shelved. In fact the film is pretty much on schedule and its shooting would kick-start this summer.

Since Ramu had earlier announced that DEPARTMENT would be his next Hindi film after RAKHT CHARITRA, there was added rise in speculations when there was no further movement right through the first quarter of the year. Commercial failure of Abhishek's KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY and GAME further added fuel to the fire since DEPARTMENT features him in a key role. Later when Ramu announced that he was starting A LOVE STORY starting this month itself, it was time for obituaries to be written about DEPARTMENT.

'It is all sheer nonsense that I have shelved DEPARTMENT. It is very much on', one catches the filmmaker in a tad angry tone, 'People start rumours before checking facts and just end up making something out of nothing. They say that I am filling up the lost time with A LOVE STORY. Sorry, it is untrue since DEPARTMENT was always meant to begin this summer. It is sticking to the schedule. A LOVE STORY is a quickie I am making in between.'

When asked to confirm further plans for DEPARTMENT, Ramu responds while settling down, 'The film doesn't have only Abhishek in the starcast. There are many actors in the film and their combination dates had already been locked.'

Jack the Giant Killer

Jack the Giant Killer is an upcoming fantasy/adventure film based on the fairy tale of the same name. The film is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Nicholas Hoult as the titular hero with a screenplay written by Darren Lemke, Christopher McQuarrie and Dan Studney. The film is scheduled to be released on March 22, 2013.

An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.

In January 2012, Warner Bros. moved back the release date by fourteen months to March 22, 2013. It had been set to open June 15, 2012. The Hollywood Reporterstated "Warner can likely afford the move because of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, which opens in July. And pushing the film back gives the studio more time for special effects, as well as a chance to attach trailers for it to Peter Jackson's Christmas tentpole The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".

Warm Bodies

This is about a young man with an existential crisis–he is a zombie. He shuffles through an America destroyed by war, social collapse, and the mindless hunger of his undead comrades, but he craves something more than blood and brains. He can speak just a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. He has no memories, noidentity, and no pulse, but he has dreams.
After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend. Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His decision to protect her will transform not only R, but his fellow Dead, and perhaps their whole lifeless world.
Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies is about being alive, being dead, and the blurry line in between.

Bullet to the Head

In Movie Theaters:February 1, 2013 Nationwide
Directed by:Walter Hill
Starring:Sylvester Stallone
Sung Kang
Sarah Shahi
Distributed by:Warner Bros. Pictures

The first Sylvester Stallone ’80s action throwback flick to hit theaters in 2012 (before The Expendables 2) was originally going to be Bullet to the Head: an adaptation of Alexis Nolent’s French graphic novel “Du Plomb Dans La Tete”. The story is about a cop (Fast Five‘s Sung Kang) and a hitman (Stallone) who join forces to avenge the deaths of their respective partners.
Warner Bros. yanked Bullet to the Head from its release schedule less than two months before its original April date. Jump to the present and the studio has instead selected a February 1st, 2013 date for Sly’s buddy/action flick to storm into theaters – alongside the delayed zombie rom-drama adaptation, Warm Bodies.

Bullet to the Head, as directed by ’80s icon Walter Hill (48 Hours, Red Heat), will actually face stiff competition for the attention of action-hungry moviegoers in the traditionally slow first quarter of the year. Just two weeks before Bullet hits theaters (pun intended), the Arnold Schwarzenegger comeback vehicle The Last Stand will arrive in theaters, followed by the latest Jason Statham thriller (Parker) a week later. If that wasn’t enough, the Keanu Reeves-headed Samurai epic 47 Ronin opens just a week after Bullet to the Head – followed the next week by action movie heavyweight Bruce Willis in A Good Day to Die Hard.

That release schedule doesn’t exactly set the stage for Bullet to the Head to have much longevity, despite the film boasting a big name like Stallone alongside such fan-faves as Jason Momoa (Stargate: Atlantis, Game of Thrones) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Oz, Lost). Additionally, rumors that Stallone did a significant rewrite of the original script co-penned by Hill and Alessandro Camon (The Messenger) – coupled with previous claims that Stallone took over editing on the film (which Warner Bros. denied) and the new February “dumping ground” release date… well, usually when there’s that much smoke, there’s also some fire.
Still, the cast and crew for Bullet to the Head reads as pretty solid, while Nolent’s source material is generally well-regarded (by those who’ve actually read it, at least). Here’s hoping the final product also turns out well – a sentiment that goes for all the aforementioned action titles due out in the first quarter of 2013.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is an upcoming American action comedy-horror film directed by Tommy Wirkola. The film will be made in 3-D. It is a continuation to the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton have been cast in the titular roles, while Famke Janssen has been cast as the leader of a coven of evil witches that they seek out to destroy.

Catching up with Hansel (Renner) and Gretel (Arterton) 15 years after the traumatic incident involving a gingerbread house, the siblings have evolved into vengeful bounty hunters dedicated to exterminating witches. Over the years, the siblings became expert hunters, famous for their proficiency at tracking and taking down their prey. Although still recovering from their ordeal, their work is relatively easy as for an unknown reason harmful spells and curses do not work well against them. The Mayor of Augsburg recruits them to rid the town and nearby forests of an evil sorceress (Janssen) who is planning to sacrifice many local children at the witches' gathering during the upcoming 'Blood Moon' night in two days time. To make things worse, the duo also has to deal with the brutal Sheriff Berringer (Stormare) who has taken power in Augsburg and conducts a very indiscriminate witch-hunt of his own.

According to a 2009 interview with Wirkola, "it's an action-adventure horror movie that finds Hansel and Gretel fifteen years [after their first witch incident] and they've grown up to become merciless witch hunters. Blood and gore and action, all the stuff that I love. (...) It's definitely an R-rated movie, the first draft has a lot of blood and guts. First and foremost, it's an action movie, I think, with horror elements. And of course some dark humor as well. But the action and horror are the most import feelings I want. According to Adam McKay in 2010, "the idea is, they’ve grown up and they hunt witches. It’s a hybrid sort of old-timey feeling, yet there’s pump-action shotguns. Modern technology but in an old style. We heard it and we were just like, ‘That’s a freakin’ franchise! You could make three of those!' "McKey added, "the witches are awesome in it. Nasty, mean witches, and we'll get some great actresses for them as well."
Filming began in March 2011 and is taking place in Potsdam Babelsberg and in the city of Braunschweig, Germany. On December 3, 2011, Entertainment Weekly released the first publicity photo of the film.

Initially slated for a March 2, 2012 release, Paramount Pictures pushed it to January 11, 2013.

Scary Movie 5

The story in Scary Movie 5 involves the dance world, with a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French director of a dance company named Pierre putting on a huge production. Jody, a Caucasian late-20's mother of two and her late-20's African American friend Kendra are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody's extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30's Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry, gets cut from the production and goes berserk. [...]
The studio had been very interested in bringing back some of the series’ original cast members, but there’s no word on where that plan stands now. Insiders have said that the film has been completely retooled and will hire a brand new cast. That would not be a surprise considering the casting directors are "seeking a comedic leading lady with the ability to play comedy in a grounded dramatic style".

An acerbic sense of humour and a gleefully grisly production style make this gothic thriller good fun to watch. It may be rather preposterous, but it's also a grippingly complex mystery populated by some terrific actors.

In the weeks before his inexplicable death in 1849, author Edgar Allan Poe (Cusack) finds himself at the centre of a series of murders in which a killer is recreating his stories in grotesque scenarios around Baltimore. Detective Fields (Evans) asks Edgar to help with the case, but he's distracted by his girlfriend Emily (Eve), whose harsh father (Gleeson) refuses to allow the couple to marry. As the murders get increasingly personal for Edgar, he realises that his own fate is entwined with the fiendishly clever killer, whoever he may be.

The film opens with a note about how Poe's final days are shrouded in mystery, then proceeds to tell a story that's about as public as it can be, as the events play out in Baltimore's newspapers and among the city's chattering classes. In other words, everything's so fictionalised that the fact that the central character is Poe is almost irrelevant. Not that this really matters, when the filmmakers work so diligently to gleefully gross us out.

Each murderous scenario is more grisly than the last, and Cusack is terrific as a guy horrified that his own imagination is being used in such a ghastly way.
But the filmmakers are having so much fun with the energetic action that they never bother to explore the intriguing issue of a horror writer's creative process. Instead, the film's a series of set pieces involving confusing attacks and chases souped up with period detail.

Thankfully, the actors have plenty of space to add sardonic wit, creating tension between them that makes the film more entertaining than it has a right to be. The mystery resolves in a way that isn't hugely satisfying, but the lively tone never lets up, even as things become increasingly grim. We know that it will end with Poe's death (the story is told as an extended flashback), and while the whodunit isn't hugely convincing as an explanation for real-world events, it's a thoroughly entertaining movie plot.

Godzilla 2012 Movie: A New American Godzilla
Releasing Date: Not yet decided

The original script as penned by David Callahan who wrote "The Expendables" and "Doom". But I think the change is very good news. You might not know David Goyer's name, but he's a heavy hitter in Hollywood screenwriting. His resume includes the new "Ghost Rider"sequel, Zack Snyder's "Superman: Man of Steel", as well as all the Chris Nolan Batman movies including the upcoming "Dark Knight Rises.", which were also produced by Legendary. David Goyer's scripts help successfully re-boot the Batman franchise. These films were innovative, yet remained true to the original character. This is part of Legendary's style and was one of the main reasons Brian Rogers brought the Godzilla project to Legendary in the first place. We can hope that David Goyer can work the same magic for Godzilla as he did for Batman.
I'm sorry We'll have to wait a little longer to see the next Godzilla film. I'm sure Legendary want to do a good job, but I'm guessing another reason is that those involved like GarethEdwards have prior commitments. But, I've said this before and I'll say it again, that all the decisions Legendary Pictures has made about this project continue to inspire faith in me that we'll soon see a great American Godzilla.

Godzilla 2012 Movie

Things are pretty quiet on the Legendary Pictures Godzilla film front. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. I'm starting to get a little worried things are stalling or getting postponed. Gareth Edwards, are you still in charge?Anyway, the only news lately is all fake. There was a semi-cool poster released and a website with nothing on it and there are lots of fan-made trailers floating around on youtube. At least some of them have the decency to tell you they're fan-made. Still, thay can be kind of fun to watch. It's like a movie trivia quiz;..ok, that's Transformers, that's Cloverfield, that's 2012, etc. Here's the poster and some trailers. I'll let them wet your kaiju appetites. Just keep in mind, the only official images so far is the Godzilla at the top of this page. enjoy
